The Album was getting a lot of airplay on the radio so, Phil was approached and asked to debut a live version over the air. "We were aired live, by Jayne Chauvin(show-van) for WHMD RADIO in Hammond,  Louisiana. The town where I spent most of my childhood. There were 1000 copies in print and the next day after the  concert, it sold out!"

THE PHIL WILKINSON BAND--THE LIVE DEBUT PERFORMANCE OF THE ALBUM--"Here, myself and Chris Gomez did a twin harmony hammer on guitar lead solo together which led into the next song. The drummer, Ralph Stevens was barely 17."

"I did both live and recorded performances with B.B. (pictured on the right) I will never forget." Phil Wilkinson

BEALE STREET LEGEND BB.CUNNINGHAM AND THE HOMBRES Live-at world renowned BLUES ALLEY in Memphis Tennessee--Known for their number 1 hit in Memphis Tennesee, LET IT ALL HANG OUT. "B.B. is a Memphis legend you can see him listed as a Beale Street Legend. " played live with him and The Hombres on Blues Alley. He loved my modification with Blues-Rock guitar on LET IT ALL HANG OUT and harmony vocals, much better than the original. Right there on stage afterwards he asked me to do a remake of the song with him, like we had just done. This sparked the idea of calling it LET IT ALL HANG OUT AGAIN. He would later record and release. But, I landed a deal with a company in California who foot the bill for a couple weeks at the Record Plant in Hollywood for me to finish recording my album out there. Part of the deal was they set me up with a place to live and a car and etc... and wanted me to stay in LA and put together a band to promote there. I called it--MYTH. We played the west coast."

At 14 B.B. was the youngest musician allowed to register with the Memphis Musician Union. (See  Pic on right) The producer Sam Phillips asked B.B. to play percussion at Sun Records for a song called..."I Don't Care If The Sun Don't Shine," for Elvis Presly.

Bryan Savage:

BRYAN SAVAGE-Saxist and flutist for Al Stewart and Shot in the dark. (Al Stewart is best known for his hit-YEAR OF THE CAT). Bryan also played sax on commediant Steve Martin's hit 'King Tut'.  He played flute on  'I WONDER' on the ROCK & ROLL album by Phil Wilkinson pictured at the top of the page. "We recorded that one song at Sound Recorders in Kansas City. It was Bryan on flute,  Steve Galpin on drums, Tim Shields on bass and my self on vocal and acoustic twelve string. I later added strings arranged by Jerry Peters, performed by string players of the 1978 Memphis Symphony Orchestra(recorded at Ardent Recording in Memphis). More on Bryan here:

** "To my regret, my publicist did not include credit for Bryan who played flute on the song I WONDER-on the  above listed album  ROCK & ROLL. It left me stunned. But it had already been in print when I found out. I respect Bryan more than I can say, not just his excellent musicianship, but also as a genuine person. I don't think I met too many like him.To his credit--he deserves so well...his performance on the song was outstanding. In fact it is my desire to have him do a re-cut of the song his way and use it on one of his new albums. As well as I am considering releasing it as a single giving him featured credit."--- Phil Wilkinson

"We also played as a featured act at The Strawberry Festival, in Southeast Louisiana. The crowd was humongous. And they got down and partied with us at this concert. Although I must admit we were not...as good as we would become later. Our best concert performance, another huge crowd, was with David Allen Coe."

AT THE STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL--

AT THE STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL--"With only half of my face showing, I was reluctant to post this picture. But unfortunately, we did not get any others. I'm in the foreground and my best friend in life is playing bass standing directly behind me. Below is a current picture of him and one of me, as we are re-uniting to make an attempt at putting a three piece Blues-Rock band together. Right now I am re-training my music ear the best I can. And the more musical instruments being played together, the harder it is for me to hear the music clear enough. I only have a minimal trace of nerve hearing only, and only in my left ear. So we are trying different ways to set up the sound to hopefully get it clearer with electronics so I can hear the chord changes. Right now each chord sounds the same. But I can distinguish between each single note. Three instruments (3-piece band) would be easier for my nerve hearing to hopefully hear clear enough. William is working the sound to help me try to hear it better. We intend on using clear thick plastic (or plexiglass) wall between me and the other musicians to seperate the sound. That and monitors at a careful volume I think will help! But it has been 30 plus years since I played in a band.

BURNING SPEAR: When Burning Spear began his 1st North American Tour he started in Houston Texas. The warm up band did not have a percussionist, and shared the same rehearsal studio with Phil's band called OUT OF THE BLUE, and asked Phil to play percussion for them to front for BURNING SPEAR. Having played numerous instruments including percussion Phil agreed to warm up the crowd. So he found himself backstage with Burning Spear eating fine quisine Jamaican Island style seafood and partying with him. He went on to play percussion for the warm up act. (continued...)
